This was extremely calming, so thanks for that! In terms of your recommendations, I love Kiarostami, but somehow have still not seen "The Wind Will Carry Us." I hope to rectify that soon. "Love at Sea" was added to my watchlist a while back. Not sure where I heard about it, but now I'm moving it up into high priority after your description. Also, Akerman rules! One of the best to ever do it. Added "Rougue" to my watchlist on Criterion. Sounds lovely and haunting. What's unreal is that I had been planning on watching the Szulkin this week and then hearing you speak about it reaffirmed that I need to watch....like TODAY! I've seen 1979's "Golem" and was really impressed, so that trilogy was on my radar. Anyways, really enjoyed and appreciated your insights and appreciation for these films. Keep it up!

Thank you so much for listening! I'm so thrilled to hear our tastes seem to align so much :) If you love Kiarostami, I have no doubt in my mind that you'll enjoy The Wind Will Carry Us. Will be curious to hear your thoughts on all of these when you check them out, but I'm particularly overjoyed that you were going to check out Szulkin this week anyway!! His work is so underseen, but that whole tetralogy is brilliant. In (kind of) a similar vein, you may also enjoy Wojciech Has' The Hourglass Sanitorium; I saw it last year, iirc, and was just blown away by the fantasy-horror aspect of it. Some very surreal imagery that has stuck with me ever since.

I own The Hourglass Sanitorium on Blu-ray! Such a gorgeous and disorienting sensory experience. I really need to watch more of that filmmaker's work. Btw, have you seen 1988's Zerograd or 1986's Kin-dza-dza? Given your appreciation for Szulkin and Wolciech Has, you might also enjoy those films.

Ahh, I am jealous. I need a copy, myself. As for those two films, interestingly enough, they're both on my watchlist (although I have no idea how they got there, ha!). I've clearly forgotten about both, so I mega appreciate this reminder to check them out!
